Facilities Manager

We’re looking for a Facilities Manager who combines leadership, organization, and hands-on expertise to oversee the care and operation of our Chula Vista campus. This role is essential to creating and maintaining a clean, safe, welcoming, and purpose-driven environment that supports our church's mission and vision.

The Facilities Manager provides hands-on leadership to a team, ensuring excellence in daily campus operations, event coordination, and facility maintenance. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with extensive facilities experience, able to balance team management with practical, hands-on work.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Reports to Property Specialist and Associate Location Pastor. Will need to seek authorization for the broad scope of projects, changes, or repairs outside of the budget.

SCOPE & DIMENSIONS:

Oversees all facilities operations across the Chula Vista campus to ensure ministry spaces are clean, safe, and fully functional for weekly services and special events. Supervises full-time and part-time facilities staff, manages vendor relationships, and ensures budgets and resources are used effectively. Interacts regularly with pastors, ministry leaders, volunteers, vendors, and guests to support a welcoming environment and the overall mission of EastLake Church.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role focuses on six key areas for the Chula Vista campus: team leadership, maintenance, scheduling, event coordination, vendor management, and problem-solving.

Leadership & Supervision

  • Lead, develop, and manage a team of part-time Facilities staff.
  • Oversee all set-up, tear-down, cleaning, opening, and closing for ministry and community events.
  • Build and develop the volunteer team using the Leadership Ladder, modeling servant leadership and excellence.
  • Maintain clear communication and accountability among staff and volunteers.

Facility Operations & Maintenance

  • Ensure the property is in good working order at all times (basic plumbing, handiwork, machinery operation, etc.).
  • Perform and oversee general repairs and preventive maintenance across all facilities, including the preschool area.
  • Identify and solve issues promptly to maintain a safe and functional environment.

Event Coordination

  • Organize, schedule, and execute all event set-ups and tear-downs in coordination with the ministry calendar.
  • Ensure all rooms, spaces, and equipment are prepared and reset as needed for ongoing ministry use.
  • Support weekday preschool and special event facility needs.

Vendor & Contractor Management

  • Coordinate with and oversee external vendors and contractors (e.g., cleaning, landscaping, HVAC, security, and repairs).
  • Manage vendor contracts, scheduling, and quality of service.

Budget & Resource Management

  • Monitor the facilities budget and ensure expenditures stay within approved limits.
  • Recommend resource improvements and track ongoing maintenance costs.

Problem-Solving & Communication

  • Proactively identify facility issues and implement solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with staff across departments and leadership levels.
  • Maintain a posture of ownership and service in every aspect of facility care.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a follower of Jesus and committed to living out biblical principles in work and life.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Proven facilities management experience, preferably in a large campus or ministry setting.
  • Skilled in basic maintenance and repairs (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc.).
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items as needed for event set-ups and maintenance work.
  • Experience coordinating vendors and contractors for repair and maintenance projects.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in scheduling systems.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Primarily on-site during standard work hours, with some flexibility as needed for events.
  • Must be able to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks related to maintenance and set-ups.
  • Must be able to safely operate a forklift and other facility-related equipment (training or certification preferred).
  • Must align with the church’s Cultural Expectations (tithing, attendance, and conduct).

  • This position is classified by the Church as a Full-Time paid position and is Exempt from the overtime provisions, as stated in Employee Handbook.
