Creative Communications Coordinator

EastLake Church (Chula Vista, CA)

The Creative Communications Coordinator plays a key role in telling the story of the Community Church Movement across various platforms. This position blends strategy with execution, overseeing content development, branding, and storytelling across digital and print platforms. The ideal candidate is both a visionary strategist and a skilled creative, able to manage projects, lead processes, and craft compelling content that inspires people to encounter Jesus, engage in community, and participate in the mission of the Church.


The ability to speak and write in English and Spanish is a strong bonus, helping us better serve and connect with our bilingual community.

Reports to: Communications Pastor
Level: 45-50K depending on experience

Hours:

Sunday 8:30am-4:30pm

Monday 9am-5pm

Tuesday 9am-5pm   

 Wednesday 9am-5pm 

 Thursday 12:30pm-8:30pm (seasonal) 

Friday: Off

 Saturday: Off

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Reports directly to the Communications Pastor

SCOPE & DIMENSIONS:

Interacts with communications staff and IT staff for daily responsibilities. Also interacts with all staff for onboarding processes.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Creative Project Management & Communications Strategy

  • Lead and manage creative projects from concept to completion, ensuring deliverables are on time, on brand, and aligned with the church’s mission of evangelism, discipleship, and community impact.
  • Oversee workflows, timelines, and production processes for sermon series branding, campaigns, events, and digital initiatives.
  • Collaborate with church leadership on overall communications strategy to ensure alignment with the mission and vision of the church.
  • Provide creative direction and clarity for staff, volunteers, and contractors involved in communications projects.
  • Ensure all communications reflect the heart of pastoral care and the hope of the Gospel, while supporting the broader mission and vision of the church.

Copywriting & Messaging

  • Write and edit clear, compelling copy for websites, emails, print pieces, and campaigns that invite people to encounter Jesus, engage in community, and grow in their faith.
  • Maintain and strengthen the church’s voice, ensuring tone and messaging reflect mission and values.
  • Provide editing and proofreading support for staff and ministry teams.

Graphic Design & Branding

  • Create visual assets that support ministry efforts such as sermon series, outreach events, mission initiatives, and in-service content.
  • Maintain brand guidelines and visual consistency across all platforms and ministries.
  • Collaborate with design contractors for branding for sermon series, campaigns, and large events to contextualize branding to various locations.

Social Media Management & Digital Engagement

  • Develop and execute social media strategies that extend the church’s reach, share stories of life change, and engage people in the mission of the church.
  • Oversee creation of content including posts, reels, stories, and ads. 
  • Work with the pastoral team to create content for disaster relief and crisis response as an effort to provide comfort to the local church as well as raise financial aid for those in need.
  • Work with the photography ministry to maintain a level of brand excellence across our movement of churches for social media.
  • Manage digital video production for social platforms (planning, filming, editing short-form content).
  • Engage with the online community by monitoring interactions and fostering digital connections.
  • Track analytics, measure effectiveness, and adapt strategies for maximum impact.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, Media Production, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in communications, creative direction, or digital content management (ministry or nonprofit experience preferred).
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead creative processes from concept to execution.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects, etc.) or comparable tools (Canva, Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve).
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Passion for creative storytelling and alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Community Church Movement.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Being a committed Christian and follower of Jesus is a requirement for this position, as it aligns with the mission and vision of EastLake Church. While church membership is not required at the time of hire, a willingness to pursue membership as part of your integration into the team is expected.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency is a bonus.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position functions in both office settings (for meetings, editing, and creative collaboration) and in the field (to capture photos/videos and engage with ministry environments to sense and support marketing efforts).
  • Must be able to sit or stand at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally (e.g., signage, equipment, supply bins).
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment—flexibility and adaptability are essential.
  • Ability to shift directions quickly, manage multiple deadlines, and collaborate across departments with varying priorities.
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required for church events, services, or campaign launches.

  • As a staff person at Eastlake Community Church, I agree to abide by all the provisions of the Employee Handbook.
  • The Church reserves the right, at any time, with or without notice, to alter or change job responsibilities, reassign or transfer job positions, or assign additional job responsibilities.
  • This position is classified by the Church as a Full-Time paid position and is Exempt from the overtime provisions, as stated in Employee Handbook.
