Childcare Worker

As a Childcare Worker at EastLake Church Events, you play a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming, and joy-filled environment where children feel loved and cared for while their parents participate in worship, classes, or special gatherings.

Your primary responsibility is to ensure the physical and emotional safety of every child in your care through supervision, age-appropriate play, and nurturing interaction. This position supports our mission by giving parents peace of mind, knowing their children are in capable and compassionate hands.

Whether it’s a  midweek group, or a special event, you help create an experience where families feel supported and kids experience the love of Jesus—even in the littlest moments.

Level: $16.50/ hr

  • Sunday AS NEEDED
  • Monday AS NEEDED
  • Tuesday AS NEEDED    
  •  Wednesday AS NEEDED  
  •  Thursday AS SCHEDULED (5:30PM-8:30PM DURING ROOTED GROUP SEASON) Saturday AS NEEDED

Reports directly to Kids Ministry Pastor and/or Supervisor on-site.

SCOPE & DIMENSIONS:

The Childcare Worker supports the mission of EastLake Church by providing safe, loving, and Christ-centered care for children during church events, services, and special programs. This role plays an essential part in helping families engage more fully in church life, knowing their children are well cared for in a secure and nurturing environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly supervise and monitor the safety of children in their care.
  • Listens attentively to Families during drop off/Pass down. Offers positive anecdotes during pick-up.
  • Follow schedules and routines; interact and play with children, assist in snack times, and change diapers/assist children to restroom (As needed. Adult background-checked females only).
  • Maintain sanitary conditions. Cleaning room and toys. Sanitize mouthed toys immediately.
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Respond to communications from Church staff/Supervisor via Email/Text in a timely manner.
  • Maintain appropriate language and conversation topics during working hours/while on campus.
  • Carry a welcoming , happy, and approachable demeanor/friendly customer service attitude.
  • Commit to schedule as assigned.
  • Know and display our Eastlake Network Staff team values.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a committed Christian, aligned with the mission and values of EastLake Church
  • CPR and First Aid certification desired (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
  • Previous experience caring for children of various ages and developmental stages, preferably in a church, daycare, or structured group setting
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other childcare staff and event volunteers
  • Must be able to pass a background check and fingerprinting in accordance with church and state guidelines

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to stand, sit on the floor, bend, and lift up to 40 lbs when assisting or interacting with children
  • Work is performed indoors in a busy, active environment, sometimes with high noise levels due to group activity
  • May involve extended periods of standing, walking, and supervising children
  • Must be comfortable caring for infants through elementary-aged children, depending on the event’s needs
  • Evening and weekend availability required to support various church events, services, and special programs
  • Must maintain professional and Christ-like behavior while working with children, parents, and fellow staff or volunteers
  • Adherence to EastLake Church’s Cultural Expectations is required, including participation in church life and alignment with our mission and values

  • As a staff person at Eastlake Community Church, I agree to abide by all the provisions of the Employee Handbook.
  • The Church reserves the right, at any time, with or without notice, to alter or change job responsibilities, reassign or transfer job positions, or assign additional job responsibilities.
  • This position is classified by the Church as a Part-Time paid position and is Non-Exempt from the overtime provisions, as stated in Employee Handbook.
